And I'm really excited to get going again! The 4th year of Lanier High and CDAT is coming up soon, and I hope our students are just as excited to play with our new toys, in our new space. We have a large group of incoming 9th graders who get to experience CDAT for the first time, and that's always so fun!
We will have a few folks available during the Freshmen Experience on July 29, as well as during Orientation on August 5. (Any current CDAT students, you're welcome to show up at 10:30 on the 5th!). One of the biggest questions we get is about supplies. In addition to basics like a good notebook, folder, etc., get a USB drive. We recommend at least 4GB, as this is a great tool to save, share and move files.
This new year brings our first 12th grade class, with some cool internships in the video production and editing field, real game development projects, and some kids even getting credit for playing and recording video games! It's all about showing our students that they can make their own company and their own REAL products, that they can be the next generation of entrepreneurs.
We are going to grow to over 200 students in Lanier High, but we also congratulate Lanier Middle on starting the TWIST program! They will be starting with both 6th and 8th grade this year, and they are sure to succeed with the foundation set by Ms. Langhans and Ms. Wilson! Check them out at this link. Beyond middle school, we also welcome project-based learning environments at all of our elementary schools!! White Oak will include both 4th and 5th grade, while Sugar Hill and Sycamore Elementary are going to have their first years based on the White Oak model.
We are so lucky to have the community we do in the Lanier Cluster. I think we're going to look back at the 2013-2014 year as a launching into spectacular opportunities for our kids and community!
